About American Idol

American Idol is arguably the most commercially successful reality TV show of all time.  It is regularly rated the number one show during the weekly ratings for the winter months in which it airs.  The talent show season typically kicks off in January with airings of taped auditions, followed by “Hollywood Week” where hundreds of talented singers are paired down to a final 12 guys and 12 girls.  This leads to the live portion of the show when the finalists perform weekly in a process of elimination with the audience ultimately voting on the “American Idol”.

Many American Idol winners and finalists have gone on to stellar commercial and critical success in music, garnering top selling albums and singles and a slew of Grammy Awards and other music industry honors.  (Find a complete American Idol winners list below)
