About Survivor

One of the innovators in the new millennium trend toward reality TV, Survivor is the ultimately survival of the fittest competition where competitors are sent to remote island locations and asked to “Outwit, Outlast, Outplay” the competition.  A cast typically ranging from 16-20 is assembled using video submissions and a series of casting interviews.  Once on the island, cast members are split into two teams, or tribes.  Following the first seasons of the series, each new season has produced unique twists and different methods for breaking teams apart.

The originator of the now cliche “voting someone off” concept, Survivor members are voted out one by one at a Tribal Counsel as the losing team for that episodes competition must eliminate a member.  Once the cast is down to ten survivors, the teams merge and it is a race to the finish, with alliances, scheming, and physical prowess taking over.  The final three compete in the show’s final episode before a final vote for the winner is cast by a jury of peers in the show.  The winner is announced at a live finale and awarded $1 million.
